Whether for derailleur clamp clearance, tire clearance, or personal preference, sometimes it can be advantageous to run the wheel set further back in the dropouts. Monkey Nuts install into Surly’s horizontal dropouts to make spacing the wheel back easy. There are 3 different sets, depending on the type of dropout and axle configuration the dropout is intended for. Simply select the correct version of Monkey Nut, install it into the frame, and slam the wheel all the way forward. Bang, done.

- For use with traditional style (bottom pull) front derailleurs
- Compatible with QR or 10mm bolt on axles
- Pulls the wheel back 5mm in dropouts

Monkey Nuts V2 (Karate Monkey - Pair)
- For use with modern top or dual pull front derailleurs
- Compatible with QR or 10mm bolt on axles
- Pulls the wheel back 14mm in dropouts

Monkey Nuts V3 (Single)
- V3 Monkey Nuts are designed for use in all Surly frames with horizontal slotted dropouts, in conjunction with a Surly 12mm thru-axle, or quick release hub using our 10/12mm adapter washers.
- For use with modern top or dual pull front derailleurs
- Compatible with Thru-Axle, QR, or 10mm bolt on axles (QR and 10mm axles require use of adapter washers)
- Pulls the wheel back 12.5mm in dropouts
